TiBo baby comfortmassage
Baby comfortmassage comprises direct, attentive touch of your baby. Parents from all over the world massage their infants. By doing this on a regular basis they intensifies the contact with their child, giving the baby more self confidence, stimulating the motorial learning and metabolism and cultivating a solid environment for their child to grow up in.
Based on years of experience with Shantala-baby massage (originating from India), TiBo baby massage was developed out of a need to provide a more tailored form of baby massage suitable for babies growing up in the fast-moving societies of the West. Because every baby’s mood differs from day to day, every TiBo massage is different, reflecting the baby’s needs at that specific moment.
The techniques used when performing TiBo baby comfortmassage find their originate from the Eastern, as well as the Scandinavian baby massage traditions, however, the massage also incorporates specific complementary techniques which TiBo have been developed from years of research and direct of experience with and research into over-stimulated, premature and sick infants.
The TiBo baby comfortmassage, however, distinguishes itself most by placing focus on the following basic principle: awareness. By being aware of your own feelings and your own way of finding inner-peace you are able to offer this to your baby.
Using active rest as a starting point you are able to observe and act in a more intuitive and balanced way: both you and your baby are in a much better position to pick up and send out signals which can be used to satisfy the baby’s needs at that specific moment.
This is called the ‘Active Rest Learning Method’.
When used in practice, ‘The Active Rest Learning Method’ helps the baby to relax before, during and after the massage ensuring that the basic principle of awareness creating inner-peace remains throughout the session.
The parent does not ventilate their own stress, but can see and feel the infant as they really are – the contact is deep and intense. The parent is taught to recognize and respect the baby’s boundaries and anticipate the baby’s needs. By doing so, the massage concentrates on the part of the baby’s body which is at rest, thereby not making the baby tired. The massage is smooth and is carried out in attentive rest. The baby is never over-stimulated and the massage allows them to safely experience becoming aware of their body and having total acceptance of their own being.
The ‘Active Rest Learning Method’ is also useful for coaching purposes: the instructor’s or consultant’s goal is: complete relaxation and cohesion in their instructions ensuring total tuning in on the parent and child.
Because TiBo baby massage works to meet the baby’s needs and is performed in a professional way, it is perfectly suitable for babies with problems: babies who cry a lot, babies who have experienced a difficult birth or hospital treatment, who find it difficult to interact, have been over-stretched, overstretch themselves, show a preferential sleeping posture, vomit frequently/have reflux, or suffer from asthma or eczema.
TiBo baby massage can also be beneficial to young parents having difficulty in finding balance in their new lives as parents; parents with sick or premature babies and parents who have adopted or fostered infants.
TiBo baby massage is suitable for all babies and is offered as group or individual courses and consultations.
During the first couple of weeks after birth, individual sessions for the new-born are available; from 6 weeks onwards, parents and their babies can participate in group sessions.
